If you’d like to arrange a group course, please get in touch with us.

Payment Details

  • All courses are to be prepaid in full.

    No exceptions can be made under any circumstances.
  • Courses are to be prepaid before starting classes. 

    Payment must be sent in advance by at least 2 days before the beginning of the first class for each course, and ideally 3-4 days in advance.
  • PayPal is the preferred mode of payment. 

    Contact us for Paypal payment details.
  • Other methods of payment (non-Paypal), such as Wise or direct bank transfer, are also possible. 

    Please contact us for other payment options.
  • Payment should be made in the currency of United States dollars (USD). In some cases, the equivalent amount in Romanian Lei (RON) and Euros (EUR) may be accepted.
  • Please make sure to cover all transfer fees. For PayPal payment, in order to avoid transfer fees, please select “For Friends and Family” before sending payment. Doing this usually eliminates transfer fees. 

    If this is not possible, please include an extra 5 percent of the total bill in order to cover transfer fees.

About Online Tibetan Courses

  • How long does each course take to complete?

    How long each course takes to complete is primarily determined by the number of classes per week. For example, with 4 classes per week, students can complete any given course much faster than with only 2 classes per week. It all depends on how many classes are taken on a regular basis.
  • How many classes do you recommend taking per week?

    No fewer than 2 classes per week (or 2 hours per week) is recommended for most students. Ideally, 3 or 4 classes per week is best for optimizing one’s study. Most students take 2 to 4 classes per week.
  • How many classes am I allowed to take per week?

    Students may choose to take up to 5 classes per week, depending on the teacher’s schedule.
  • How many total hours should I take per week?

    For more intensive study, 3 to 6 class hours per week is ideal.

Foundations in Classical Tibetan Course (25 hours)

  • Designed for those wishing to get a good foundation in Classical Tibetan in a short amount of time.

  • 25 to 50 hours of personal study time outside class is recommended for these courses.

Foundations in Colloquial Tibetan Course (25 hours)

  • Available in 2 possible dialects: Ü-Tsang Dialect (Central Tibetan) and Exile Dialect (Refugee Tibetan).

  • Designed for those wishing to get a good foundation in Colloquial Tibetan in a short amount of time.

  • 25 to 50 hours of personal study time outside class is recommended for these courses.

Foundations in Modern Literary Tibetan Course (20 hours)

  • The emphasis in this Foundations course is on Biographical & Poetic Readings.

  • Designed for those wishing to get a good foundation in Modern Literary Tibetan in a short amount of time.

A Note on the Tibetan Alphabet & Script

  • Students who are absolute beginners at Tibetan language are strongly encouraged to learn the Tibetan alphabet and be able to read the Tibetan script before starting classes with Trikāya Tibetan Language Academy, prior to the commencement of the course.
  • Until the student has learned how to read the Tibetan script to a basic level, it is difficult to properly conduct more than 5 to 10 classes maximum.
  • Learning the Tibetan alphabet and gaining the ability to read the script can be done in as little as 10 hours, and should not take more than 20 hours of focused study.
